Garden Photowalk with Artist Maritza Caneca

Join artist Maritza Caneca for a photo walk in the Garden with the support of the Bakehouse Art Complex and The55 Project. Participants will have the opportunity to explore the textures, flowers, composition and morning light of the garden from a photographic perspective. During the walk, the artist will share stories about her creative process and the mural she made in three public pools around the neighborhood of Wynwood North, using the wheat paste technique.

The workshop is open to participants of all levels. Participants can bring any photographic equipment they wish to use: digital, film or camera phone. Wear comfortable shoes, a hat and bring a water bottle! Spaces are limited.

About the Artist MARITZA CANECA (born 1964, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil)

Maritza Caneca is a Miami-based visual artist whose work encompasses photography, film and multimedia installations. After spending three decades as a filmmaker, her work continues to capture detailed narratives found at angles of simple symmetries and geometries. Caneca has participated in group shows in Miami, New York, Detroit, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Budapest and Basel and has been the subject of individual exhibitions in Miami, Rio de Janeiro and Budapest. She is currently a resident artist at the Bakehouse Art Complex in Miami, FL.
